Arranged in tableaus, the characters relationships to one another never fully coalesce, but rather each leave questions about American identities and the construction of cultural iconography.

"American Triptych", as used in Renaissance painting, utilizes a shape in which the canvas is divided into three parts, the central panel being the most prominent and the left and right panels being supplementary or hinging upon the main panel.
